SESAME PLACE

I began my journey at Sesame Place in 2021 as an entry-level Events Technician. Since then, I’ve grown into the role of Manager of Theatrical Services and Event Theming, leading a multidisciplinary team responsible for daily show operations, technical maintenance, and the design and installation of large-scale seasonal event overlays. Together, we bring immersive experiences to life through storytelling, technical precision, and creative collaboration.

Projection Mapping as a Substitute for Pyrotechnics in Themed Entertainment: Practical Applications

- "This thesis will investigate the applicability of projection mapping as a substitute for pyrotechnics in venues were fireworks, fire jets, and controlled explosions are considered unsafe and impractical due to climate, terrain, or the threat of fire. Dollywood is an excellent example of a venue where the environment is ideally suited to the concept of the park. The hills, dense forestation, and rustic wooden structures uniquely and accurately convey a feeling of going back in time in the hills of Tennessee. However, those conditions also create a situation where the use of pyrotechnics could create an unreasonably high risk of fire and where the individual sections of the park are visually isolated to the point that all but the highest aerial would be unseen from most locations. Finally, in this thesis examples will be presented to show ways that projection mapping can be used to augment Dollywood's existing sound system and audio programs to create a program were the park-wide spectacular of music and narrative is enhanced with awe inspiring video displays designed to reflect the nature and focus of each individual venue."
